Self Organized Learning Environment (SOLE) is a place where children can work in small groups, use the internet to investigate, and share out what they have learned. The term SOLE was popularized by Dr. Sugata Mitra. In 1999, Mitra’s pioneering “Hole in the Wall” experiments helped bring the potential of self-organized learning to the public’s attention. In 2013, he was given the $1,000,000 TED Prize in recognition of his work and to help build a School in the Cloud.
“My wish is to help design the future of learning by supporting children all over the world to tap into their innate sense of wonder and work together.” —Sugata Mitra, 2013 TED Prize Winner
